Title:  Kubernetes on OpenStack Lightning Talk with Sabari Murugesan and `Sailing with the Trade Winds — Maximize Developer Velocity with Containers` with Dustin Kirkland
Description:  Sabari Murugesan presents his Lightning Talk on deploying Kubernetes backed by VMware OpenStack. Dustin Kirkland presents Canonical’s view on containers, Kubernetes and cloud native tooling. Both are vendor presentations.
What:  November 2017 SF Bay OpenStack Meetup
When:  Recorded on 2017-11-29
Where:  VMware corporate offices, Palo Alto, CA

Abstract:

Here’s a challenge for you:

Find a developer and ask for 5 minutes of their time. Open a stopwatch app on your phone and press start. Ask your developer to describe the software stack in their current project under development. Stop the timer the first time they say “containers.”

Did you get to 60 seconds? Nope, me neither.

What else did you hear in that 5-minute conversation? Docker? Kubernetes? OpenStack? Amazon? CloudFoundry? Rancher? Ubuntu? These are the trade winds, the prevailing patterns of development that remove friction and propel software projects forward.

In this talk, we will examine the modern set of container best practices filling the sails of the smartest and most efficient developers in the world.

And we’ll have experts on hand for a lively Q & A. Yes… I know you will have questions. We may or may not have answers, but it’ll be a fun night!
